The Derivative of y = x^2

The derivative of x^2 at an arbitrary value of x is 2x. This is the slope of the tangent line at that point. — The derivative of $y=f(x)=x^{2}$ at an arbitrary value of $x$ is equal by $2x$ . Linear versus Exponential Growth and Decay

For $f(x)=2\cdot 1.5^{x}$ , $f(x+2)=1.5^{2}f(x)$ , no matter what $x$ is. The exponential function is converting addition of inputs to multiplication of outputs.
